The mission statement of all Boys and Girls Clubs is, “to provide a safe, supportive place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life.” At the Boys and Girls Club of Kingston & Area we ensure that this mission is upheld by creating as many opportunities as possible that provide Kingston children and youth with safe places to be, constant interactions with positive role models and a variety of ways to gain confidence, learn skills, be creative and realize their potential.
The Boys and Girls Club of Kingston & Area provides After School Programs to children ages 4 to 18. We fulfill our mission through Programs at eight After School locations throughout Kingston and the surrounding area. We currently have 4740 registered members who take part in our programming that promotes health and personal wellness, food and nutrition, physical activity, education and other local Programs such as science, arts and crafts, music, drama and much more.
“I think the Boys and Girls Club gives a child the opportunity to belong in a family. It doesn’t matter what nationality, it doesn’t matter what economic status you’re at, every kid is treated the same.”
"Boys and Girls Club was the first place where I met my friends when I first arrived in Canada. The Programs offered helped me learn English. The staff and the Club improved my self-esteem and self-confidence. After I volunteered and worked at the Club which helped me choose my career path. A great place."
Our, model for success describes the common features and core programming areas offered by Clubs and the positive outcomes for children and youth that are achieved through them.
